Positive: Everything. A lovely, spacious apartment in a Georgian terrace house. Although it is located on the lower-ground (basement) level, don't let that put you off. The living room overlooks a beautiful garden, and the entrance opens onto a charming patio where you can enjoy your afternoon coffee, weather permitting. The apartment is fully equipped—truly fully equipped. There was enough toilet paper to last the average family for the zombie apocalypse, and so much coffee that you could practically bathe in it. You'll find a capsule espresso machine, an oven, a toaster, an electric kettle, plenty of crockery and cutlery, and a dishwasher complete with more than enough detergent capsules. Everything is spotless, modern, and well maintained. As a lovely welcome gesture, the hosts even left us a bottle of red wine. The apartment is situated in a quiet neighbourhood, directly opposite the Royal Botanic Garden—an absolute must-see for anyone visiting Edinburgh. The East Gate is only about 200 metres away, although it's worth noting that the gardens close at 5 p.m. If you need groceries, the Tesco Superstore is just a ten-minute walk away. And one more thing: if you're a Harry Potter fan, you'll be delighted to know that The Gently Mad Bookshop—often compared to Ollivanders—is practically on the doorstep. Getting to the Old Town, the New Town, or Edinburgh Castle takes around twenty-five minutes on foot. It's a lovely walk, especially if you enjoy exploring a city on foot, though be prepared for a steady uphill climb for much of the journey. We didn't mind it at all—in fact, we found it rather refreshing. The hosts are warm, friendly, and always happy to help, while never being intrusive or overbearing. All in all, this is a fantastic place to stay and worth every penny. I wouldn't hesitate to book it again. Ten out of ten. Negative: There was no such thing.
